Jeep kills 11-year-old boy in Manila; driver arrested

A jeepney driver was arrested after his vehicle hit and killed an 11-year-old boy in Sta. Cruz, Manila last Saturday, Nov. 4, the Manila Police District (MPD) reported Tuesday, Nov. 7.

The MPD-Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MDTEU) identified the suspect as Cajes Domi de Vera.

He is currently detained at MDTEU for a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.

According to the police report, the accident happened along the eastbound lane of Blumentritt Road corner Felix Huertas Street in Sta. Cruz around 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Based on the initial investigation, the jeepney bumped and ran over the victim who was crossing the road.

The driver of the jeepney rushed the victim to Chinese General Hospital, but the boy was declared dead around 3:50 p.m.
