BACOLOD CITY – Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez will induct newly elected barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials in a mass oathtaking here on November 10.
Benitez said that he invited all of them to attend the oathtaking at the SMX Convention Center.

“We’re looking at about 976 of them,” he said. “This is just to make sure that everybody is on board,” Benitez also said, adding that the ceremony is also a venue for the city to present good governance to barangay officials.
This city has a total of 61 barangays, and each barangay has 16 officials, according to Benitez.
Last week, the mayor issued a memorandum directing all incumbent barangay and SK officials to fast-track the final inventory of barangay and SK properties, financial records, documents, and properties (PFRDs) and money accountabilities pursuant to a memorandum of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The City Accountant, as chairperson of the City Assessment and Transition Team (CATT), was also directed to coordinate and collaborate with DILG city director and other members of the CATT.
Benitez said there shall be a transition period not to exceed three weeks to ensure proper and smooth transition of governance, accountabilities, and actual turnover of the PFRDs and secure or comply bonding requirements and other requisites under existing laws, rules, and regulations.
Benitez said that this is to ensure that the inventory of assets of the barangays are accepted by the newly elected officials.
He said that all incumbent barangay officials are in holdover capacity.
Thus, newly elected officials who were proclaimed and have taken their oath can technically assume office, he added.
