57% of Filipinos in favor of reallocation of confidential funds

Majority of Filipinos support Congress' decision to reallocate confidential funds to agencies dealing with national security concerns, a survey conducted by OCTA Research revealed.
In the survey results released on Tuesday, Nov. 7, OCTA found that 57 percent agree with Congress’ decision to reallocate confidential funds.
This was highest in Balance Luzon at 75 percent and lowest in Mindanao at 24 percent.
Meanwhile, Class ABC had the highest percentage of agreement (72 percent) among socio-economic groupings, while Class E had the lowest percentage of agreement (54 percent).
OCTA said 14 percent of Filipinos disagree with Congress’ decision to reallocate confidential funds.
Disagreement was highest in Mindanao at 26 percent and lowest in Balance Luzon at 10 percent, while it was highest in Class E at 15 percent and lowest in Class ABC.
During the same survey period, OCTA found that 72 percent of Filipino adults have heard, read, or watched discussions about confidential and intelligence funds.
Among regions, Balance Luzon had the highest awareness at 87 percent and Mindanao had the lowest at 51 percent, while among socio-economic groups, Class ABC had the highest awareness at 79 percent and Class E had the lowest at 66 percent.
Meanwhile, OCTA said 23 percent of respondents had not heard, read, or watched discussions about confidential and intelligence funds.
This was highest in Mindanao (39 percent), and lowest in Balance Luzon (11 percent).
Among socio-economic groups, 29 percent of Class E and 15 percent of Class ABC were unaware.
OCTA’s Third Quarter of 2023 Tugon ng Masa survey is an independent poll that was conducted with 1,200 adult respondents nationwide from Sept. 30 to Oct. 4.
