Mayor Ben leads oath-taking of new barangay, Sangguning Kabataan officials


The Mandaluyong City local government held on Monday, Nov. 6, the oath-taking of newly elected barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officers in the city.

Mandaluyong City Mayor Ben Abalos spearheaded the oath-taking ceremony held at the Mandaluyong College of  Science and Technology (MCST) Gymnasium. 

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos, Cong. Neptali "Boyet" Gonzales II, Mandaluyong City Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos, and councilors of the city are also present in the event.

According to the Commission on Elections (Comelec), there are 16 incumbent barangay captains who have retained their position while 11 are newly elected captains.

Abalos congratulated the elected officials as he urged them to be united in giving the public service Mandaleños deserve. He added that this is also the key to having a city that is united, peaceful, and prosperous.

Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Abalos reminded them to use this chance to unite and serve their respective constituents without hesitation and with loyalty.

For his part, Secretary Abalos stressed the weight of their responsibilities as the Philippines is the only country in the world that has the barangay system. He also urged them to be innovative in their barangays in terms of creating programs and initiatives for the betterment of their communities.
