Anakbayan to Zubiri on deliberation of 2024 budget: 'Not urgency but people's benefit'
Youth group Anakbayan on Monday, Nov. 6, called out Senate President Miguel Zubiri to make the people's benefit "secured" in the deliberation of the 2024 proposed national budget.

This came after Zubiri said that the 2024 national budget would be passed by the first week of December.
"Sana hindi lamang urgency, kundi benepisyo sa mamamayan ang matiyak." (We hope that it is not only urgency but the benefits of the people should be assured)," said Anakbayan National Spokesperson Kate Almenzo.
The group also called to redeem the P6.16 billion budget cut for the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and to abolish the Confidential Intelligence Funds (CIF) to relocate the budget to education, social services, farmers, and laborers.
Anakbayan also said the 2024 budget is a "budget for fascism, corruption, and paying the government's ever-growing debt."
"It intentionally curtails students' rights to education and Filipinos' access to social services in favor of lining the pockets of bureaucrat capitalists such as Marcos Jr., Duterte, and co. who are using their positions to satisfy their own greed," the group said. (Lizst Torres Abello)
