The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) launched on Monday, Nov. 6, an inter-agency joint exercise that would test the interoperability of troops in land, sea, and aerial operations.
AFP Chief General Romeo Brawner Jr. presided over the opening of the seventh iteration of the AFP Joint Exercise (AJEX) DAGIT-PA at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.
DAGIT-PA, a coined term which means “dagat, langit, lupa” (sea, sky, land), is an AFP-wide military exercise that integrates the operational capabilities of the Philippine Army (PA), Philippine Navy (PN), and Philippine Air Force (PAF).
This year's training involves more than 1,500 active and reserve forces from PA, PAF, PN, Philippine Marine Corps (PMC), Special Operations Command (SOCOM), and Cyber Group.
The participants will perform an array of exercises in staff, command post, cyber defense, and field training events in Northern Luzon.
Brawner reminded the participants to take the exercises seriously as these will prepare the AFP to face a "formidable adversary anytime in the future" and further enhance the military's capability to respond to threats to national security.
"Together, we will harness the power of seamless collaboration across our branches of service. We will demonstrate to the world that we are a force to be reckoned with," Brawner said.
"Strive to surpass our own expectations and redefine the limits of what is possible," he told the troops.
The exercise will conclude on Nov. 17.
