SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Workers in the private sector and domestic workers or kasambahays in Region 1 (Ilocos) will get a wage increase starting Monday, November 6.
Wage Order RB 1-22 approved by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-1 (RTWPB-1) provides a P30 to P35 increase in the daily minimum wage in the region.
Effective November 6, minimum wage will be P435 for non-agriculture establishments with 10 or more workers and P402 for non-agriculture establishments with less than 10 workers and agriculture workers.
The RTWPB-1 also approved Wage Order No. RB 1-DW-04 providing a monthly increase of P500 for kasambahays whether on a live-in or live-out arrangement in Region 1. This brings their monthly wage from P5,000 to P5,500.
As mandated by Republic Act No. 6727, otherwise known as the Wage Rationalization Act, the RTWPB-1 will periodically assess wage rates and conduct continuing studies in the determination of the minimum wage applicable in the region or industry.
Based on the results of consultations and public hearing conducted and a thorough review and evaluation of the existing socio-economic conditions in the region, the Board unanimously agreed to adjust the prevailing daily wage rates of workers and employees in the private sector in Region 1 comprised of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan to enable them to cope with the rising cost of living without impairing the viability of business and industry.
