Palace lifts suspension of LTFRB chief over corruption allegations
Malacañang has lifted the suspension of Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III over corruption allegations.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said the suspension was lifted after Guadiz' former aide and supposed whistleblower Jefferson Gallos Tumbado withdrew his allegations against the suspended LTFRB chief.
"The Office of the President (OP) lifted the suspension order imposed upon LTFRB Chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III after Jefferson Gallos Tumbado, who appears to be the sole witness in his case, executed an Affidavit of Recantation withdrawing his statements and allegations against him," Bersamin said in a statement on Sunday, Nov. 5.
With the development, Bersamin said there is "no reason" to place Guadiz under preventive suspension.
"As such there stands no reason to place Chairperson Guadiz under preventive suspension unless a supervening event maintaining the same accusations against him are put forth before the OP," the Palace official said.
Guadiz was cleared of the corruption allegations after Tumbado admitted during a House Committee on Transportation's motu proprio investigation last month that he had no evidence of the alleged corruption practices in the LTFRB.
Tumbado told lawmakers that it was only his opinion. He was later cited for contempt for failing to substantiate his claims.
Guadiz was suspended by President Marcos on Oct. 9 after Tumbado accused Guadiz of corruption in a press conference on the same day.
