DOSTv’s 'Siyensikat' returns with another season


The Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) official television program DOSTv: Science For the People's "Siyensikat" has returned for its fourth season this November.

 In a statement, the (DOST-STII) said that the public service program aims to address the daily issues Filipinos face by utilizing science-based solutions with the help of experts and technology from the department.

Aligned with DOSTv programs’ main objective “to let people know that the Philippines has existing scientific, innovative, and technological programs that can empower communities and solve societal issues,” Siyensikat will address the difficulties faced by the people with the use of DOST's latest technologies.

This season features 13 wishers who face present-day challenges that affect members of their communities.

The stories include Coral Reef Restoration in Marinduque, Alternative Wood Species for Carving, Samahan ng Kababaihan sa Barangay, Tawa-tawa Anti-Dengue Herbal Supplement, GeoRisk Philippines, Rapid Earthquake Damage Assessment System, and Makeroscope.

Other stories are Robot for Optimized and Autonomous Mission-Enhancement Responses, Golden Crown Petals and Herbs Project, IP Kayumanggi, the telemedicine application SeeYouDoc, Sastrepreneurship, and a three-stringed musical instrument Jerichord.

“Siyensikat," DOST said, aspires to "create a culture of science and technology – a nation wherein people will always try to seek science-based solutions each time they encounter problems in society.”

DOSTv’s Siyensikat: Pinoy Popular Science Para sa Lahat is co-hosted by DOST Secretary Renato Solidum Jr.
