Manila North, South Cemeteries back to regular operations

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan announced on Saturday, Nov. 4, that the Manila North Cemetery (MNC) and the Manila South Cemetery (MSC) are back to their regular operations.
She said the MNC in Blumentritt and MSC in Makati City will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and are once again allowing cars to enter the premises without rigid inspections at the gates.
The public is also allowed to bring their children and pets along with their food inside the two city-run cemeteries.
The mayor noted that bringing prohibited items like guns, bladed weapons, illegal drugs, and flammable materials is still to be prohibited.
Yayay Castaneda, the director of the MNC, said that over 1.5 million people visited their departed loved ones from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2.
The MSC, on the other hand, had a total of 560,595 visitors during the said five-day period.
The mayor said that the large number of visitors was brought by the lifted health security protocols.
She thanked all government units who helped maintain peace and orderliness in the said cemeteries, including the management of the burial sites that deployed hundreds of personnel during the observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.
