Kabayan Party-list Rep. Ron Salo accompanied the grieving relatives of "hero" overseas Filipino worker (OFW) Angelyn Aguirre during the arrival of her remains Friday, Nov. 3 at the NInoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Aguirre valiantly lost her life early last month during the assault of Hamas rebel fighters in Israel. She hails from the municipality of Binmaley, Pangasinan, which is also Salo's hometown.
"OFW Angelyn Aguirre, a dedicated caregiver, displayed extraordinary heroism, concern, and unwavering dedication to her duty. Despite the perilous circumstances and the risk to her own life, she courageously stayed by the side of her patients, exemplifying the true spirit of a hero," said Salo, chairman of the House Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs.
"Her selfless act of bravery in the face of danger showcases the remarkable strength and resilience of our overseas workers, making her a shining example of heroism for all Filipinos," added the ranking solon.
Also present upon the arrival of the remains were Dapartment of Migrant Workers (DMW) Officer-in-charge Undersecretary Hans Cacdac, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Chief Arnell Ignacio and representatives from Israel Embassy in the Philippines.
Aguirre will be given a hero's welcome in Binmaley upon arrival.

Her unwavering commitment to her responsibilities in a foreign land serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by countless Filipinos working abroad to support their loved ones," Salo remarked.
A total of four Filipinos have died since the start of the Israel-Hamas war last Oct. 7.
