Eya Laure shines as Chery Tiggo deals Petro Gazz its first loss

Chery Tiggo handed Petro Gazz its first defeat in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Second All-Filipino Conference with a 25-20, 27-25, 18-25, 25-23 victory on Saturday night, Nov. 4, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City. 

The Crossovers brushed off a third-set loss and climbed 4-1 in the standings.

Eya Laure finished with a game-high 21 points in an all-around effort of 15 attacks, two blocks and four aces, while Shaya Adorador had 14 markers. 

Cess Robles and Pauline Gaston added 10 points each. 

Chery Tiggo zoomed to a 2-0 set lead, but not without a stiff resistance from the Petro Gazz side, which eventually fought back after claiming the following set. 

In the fourth set, the Crossovers also nearly squandered a 24-21 advantage after the Angels went on back-to-back unanswered points, 24-23. 

However, Chery Tiggo setter Jasmine Nabor punctuated the match with a strong 1-2 play. 

Four Angels scored in double figures with Grethcel Soltones and Aiza Pontillas pacing the squad with 14 points apiece.

Petro Gazz dropped its first game of the conference for a 4-1 record in the standings.
