DSWD holds software quality assurance workshops to improve digital transformation efforts
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in collaboration with the Information and Communications Technology Management Service (ICTMS), conducted a software quality assurance (SQA) workshop to strengthen its digital transformation efforts in improving the user experience for online services and information systems.

“We ensure the resilience, efficiency, and security of our digital platforms,” ICTMS Director Christian Joseph Regunay said.
Regunay emphasized that the workshop is an "integral part of our ‘shift left’ strategy" of integrating quality assurance from the onset of software development.
He also underscored that enhancing the skills of the Mindanao Field Office personnel on SQA will “capacitate them to test the quality and performance of DSWD online systems and services before it is finally launched for the general public’s consumption.”
The DSWD concluded the Mindanao leg of its SQA workshop held in Davao City on Oct. 27, which was facilitated by Sara May Opeña, an SQA expert, who shared her knowledge and hands-on experiences to empower ICT personnel from the Field Offices of the DSWD in the Mindanao cluster.
Opeña further emphasized that the ‘shift left’ strategy is essential in “catching issues early“ and “ensuring that the systems are built right from the ground up.”
She also applauded the DSWD’s effort to embed quality from the start of the software development life cycle.
Moreover, Regunay expressed gratitude to DSWD Field Office-11 (Davao Region), headed by Regional Director Atty. Vanessa Goc-Ong, for hosting the event.
“It ensures that we provide reliable, secure, and efficient digital social protection services to beneficiaries of DSWD programs,” Regional Dir. Goc-ong said.
The event was attended by participants who wish to enhance their skills and understanding of the crucial role of SQA in delivering excellent user experiences online.
