CEBU CITY – Over 300,000 passengers were recorded departing and arriving in Cebu Port Authority (CPA)-run ports across Cebu since the last week of October.
From October 27 to November 2, 377,038 passengers arrived or departed from the 16 ports managed and operated by the CPA. The CPA said 171,986 were arriving and 205,052 were departing.
Despite the huge volume of passengers, the CPA said there were no untoward incidents reported during the period.
The CPA has been on heightened alert since October 27 as part of the “Oplan: Biyaheng Ayos.”
The heightened alert status until November 5 was imposed as a result of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on October 30 and “Undas.”
The CPA expected that passenger traffic will exceed 500,000 from October 27 to November 5, surpassing last year’s average of 30,000 passengers daily and totaling approximately 250,000 for Undas 2022.
As part of the security measures during the 10-day period, the CPA set up Malasakit Help Desks and first-aid stations in passenger terminals in the province.
