Binangonan's giant Christmas tree symbolizes residents’ love for the environment

Instead of adding to the tons of garbage that end up in dumpsites, the recyclable wastes were transformed into a giant Christmas tree that lights up beside the municipal building in Binangonan, Rizal.

The Christmas tree is the town’s entry to the annual search for the best holiday tree that is made up of recyclable materials in the province.

The office of Mayor Cesar Ynares said individuals and groups from all sectors in the municipality contributed their plastic bottles and other recyclables for the creation of the holiday tree that glitters the municipal compound during the night.

Municipal Administrator Russel Ynares said municipal government employees, members of the Barkadahan ng mga Kababaihan sa Binangonan, and members of various groups and community organizations based in the town joined the project, which is aimed at encouraging recycling among residents.

The holiday tree is now attracting visitors from Rizal Province and other places.

The annual search for the best Christmas Tree made up of recycled materials is a pro-environment project of the Rizal Provincial Government in line with its Ynares to Eco System to Green Program (YES).

Binangonan municipal government  has been a consistent winner in the Christmas Season contest of the capitol.
