QCPD: Criminal raps to proceed vs police officer involved in bar incident

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) announced on Thursday, Nov. 30., that the City Prosecutor’s Office has enough evidence to proceed with the trial of P/Lt.Col. Mark Julio Abong on several criminal charges after firing his firearm at a bar in Barangay Laging Handa, Quezon City last Nov. 26.
The QCPD said Abong will face numerous charges which include Illegal Discharge of Firearms; Violation of Batas Pambansa Blg. (B.P) 881 in relation to Comelec Resolution No. 10918.
Additionally, he will face charges of Maltreatment; and Direct Assault upon an Agent of Person in Authority.
QCPD chief P/Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan stressed the police's commitment in upholding the highest standards of integrity within the force.
“We will not tolerate any misconduct or abuse of power and we will take decisive action to address any violations of the law," he said.
