CJ ENM Hong Kong, Paramount Global Content Distribution sign deal for 7 Korean series


CJ ENM Hong Kong (CJ ENM HK) and Paramount Global Content Distribution (Paramount GCD) closed a deal for the exclusive Pay TV rights to seven premium Korean series which are co-financed by TVING and Paramount+. 

TvN and tvN Movies have the first window slate in Southeast Asia territories, particularly in Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Singapore, where the regional network continues to dominate the Pay TV ratings.

“A Bloody Lucky Day” (tvN)

The productions are part of a global strategic partnership between CJ ENM and Paramount Global that was announced in December 2021. 

Apart from co-financing, the series will debut on TVING (South Korea) and Paramount+ (U.S., Canada, UK, Australia, Latin America, Brazil, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria) and are distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

In the first airing in Southeast Asia, tvN audiences will be able to catch the highly anticipated suspense drama “A Bloody Lucky Day” starring Yoo Yeon-seok (“Dr. Romantic,” “Hospital Playlist 1 and 2”), Lee Sung-min (“Juvenile Justice”) and Lee Jung-eun (“Our Blues,” “Yonder”). 

The series will be separated into two parts and has confirmed Part 1 (Episodes 1 to 6) to premiere on Dec. 2 on tvN; and Part 2 will premiere in Korea on Dec 8 and tvN on Dec.9. 

TvN Movies will debut “Yonder” and award-winning series “Bargain” in January 2024.

“Bargain” is a remake of the 2015 Korean short film of the same title starring Jin Sun-kyu (“Extreme Job,” “Kingdom”), Jun Jong-seo (“Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area Part I & II”) and Chang Ryul (“Lawless Layer,” “My Mister”). 

The series won the Best Screenplay award at the 6th Canneseries Festival, becoming the first Korean drama and OTT series to win at Canneseries and won the Critics’ Choice Award at the Seriencamp Festival in Cologne in 2023. 

“Bargain” is a thrilling tale that follows a story of a man who entered a motel, little to know that his organs are being put to auction.

“Yonder,” starring an ensemble of veteran A-list cast, Shin Ha-kyun (“Beyond Evil,” “The Thieves”) and Han Ji-min (“Rooftop Prince,” “Our Blues”), takes audiences on a romantic journey to a parallel world.

 The four other dramas that range from thriller, period and narrative are slated for release in 2024 and details will be announced at a later date.
