K-pop girl group NewJeans, and boy bands Seventeen and BTS won the “daesang” (grand prizes) at the 2023 MAMA Awards held on Nov. 28 and 29 at Tokyo Dome in Japan.
NewJeans bagged the Artist of the Year award, one of the grand prizes previously won by BTS for seven straight years.
NewJeans also won the Song of the Year, another grand prize, for “Ditto.” IVE won the award last year for “Love Dive.”
Seventeen took home the Album of the Year grand prize for “FML,” the first time for the group to win the award. BTS previously won the award for five consecutive years.
BTS won the Worldwide Icon of the Year, another grand prize, their sixth straight year to bag the award.
