Septuagenarian killed in All Saints' Day fire

BACOLOD CITY – A 79-year-old woman was killed in a fire that destroyed her house in Sitio Maitom, Barangay Poblacion Old Escalante, Escalante City, Negros Occidental on All Saints’ Day, November 1.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire broke out around 3:34 p.m.

The victim succumbed to second-degree burns, the BFP added.

Arson investigators are looking into a lighted candle at the altar as possible cause of the blaze.

Damage to property was estimated at P30,000.
