Scattered rains may prevail over most of PH next week — PAGASA

There is a high probability that rains will persist in several parts of the country next week, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Friday, Nov. 3.

In its weather outlook for the coming week, PAGASA said Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the possible crossing of a low pressure area (LPA) over Visayas or Mindanao between Nov. 4 and 5.

During this period, Bicol Region may also experience mostly cloudy weather with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the shear line—an area where the cold northeasterly winds and warm easterly winds converge.

The northeast monsoon or “amihan” may bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the eastern parts of Northern and Central Luzon.

The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

From Nov. 6 to 8, PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over Mindanao and Eastern Visayas due to the trough or extension of an LPA and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).

ITCZ is a convergence of winds from the northern and southern hemispheres where rain-bearing clouds form.

Meanwhile, Bicol Region will continue to experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms because of the shear line.

The eastern parts of Northern and Central Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light amihan rains, while the rest of the country will have isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

From Nov. 9 to 10, PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over Mindanao due to the trough of the LPA, which is embedded within the ITCZ.

Luzon and Eastern Visayas will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated light amihan rains, while the rest of the country will have isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
