Romualdez hails outgoing DA chief Marcos for 'dedicated service, tireless efforts'

President Marcos deserves praise for his "dedicated service" and "tireless efforts" as Department of Agriculture (DA) secretary, according to House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
"I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for his dedicated service as the outgoing Secretary of Agriculture," Romualdez said in a statement Friday, Nov. 3.
"His tireless efforts have laid a solid foundation for the department, addressing crucial issues and setting clear goals to uplift the lives of our farmers and fisherfolk," the House leader said of Marcos.
On Friday, the Chief Executive finally vacated his DA post following his appointment of Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. as new full-time secretary of the agency.
"It is my hope that Secretary Tiu-Laurel will build on this groundwork to further enhance the lives of ordinary Filipinos, ensuring that the collective interests of farmers and fisherfolk are prioritized," added Romualdez, who represents Leyte's 1st district in Congress.

Marcos addressed these issues via policy pronouncements as well as the active participation of Romualdez and the House through its oversight function.
