IT'S THE SMALL THINGS

The end of October always proves to be quite eventful. With Halloween and holidays leading up to All Saint’s Day and All Soul’s Day to start November. This year was a bit more given the barangay elections which I was luckily able to participate in. I am a firm believer that whenever we are given the chance, we should always try our best to exercise our vote as this makes as not only an active, but a purposeful member of the community. It reminds us of the very importance of electing representatives who will be our voice to the greater government. After all, our local government leaders are our direct line, and those we work with at a close level.

It was nice to take the streets for Trick or Treat again this year after quite a hiatus. Even after celebrating in Mexico where Dia de los Muertos is a significant part of their culture, I must say that no one does it quite like the Philippines. The happiness of the children (and children at heart) and the joy in spending an afternoon giving away treats is fulfilling.
We always take the time to visit and honor our beloved departed who have gone ahead. In a way, it is a time to reflect fondly on the memories that we shared, and the significant impact they had made in our lives. The legacies they have left behind, and the lives that we continue to live because of their contributions – to society, and to our personal welfare.

As we head on full blast into November, those Christmas carols are playing and sounding louder than ever. The Christmas lights are shining brighter, and the Christmas rush becomes more real. We are heading into yet another most meaningful season that year after year we never fail to celebrate. May this Yuletide season shine brighter for us all, and may blessings abound. Moreover, we pray for world peace – that love continue to weigh heavier than hate, and that harmony continue to ring true in all corners of the globe.
