In observance of the 31st National Children’s Month, minors or children below 18 years old may avail of free MRT-3 rides on Monday, Nov. 6, the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) announced.
CWC Executive Director Angelo Tapales said the free ride service will be available from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“We are very happy to announce that for the 2023 National Children’s Month celebration, may libreng sakay po ang mga bata sa MRT-3 (there will be free rides for children at MRT-3)," Tapales said.
“'Yung mga bata po na covered nito ay mga nasa grade school hanggang senior high school, so below 18 years old (This applies to students in grade school to senior high school, so below 18 years old),” he added.
The National Children’s Month (NCM) in the Philippines is celebrated every November by virtue of Republic Act 10661 or the “National Children’s Month Act” in commemoration of the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UN CRC) on Nov. 20, 1989.
This year's theme for the observance of the National Children's Month is "Healthy, Nourished, Sheltered: Ensuring the Right to Life for All". It aims to make everyone aware of a child's potential and freedom to choose their own path in life. (Trixee Rosel)
