In celebration of 65 years of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Switzerland, the Ambassador of the Embassy of Switzerland in the Philippines, H.E. Nicolas Brühl, together with his wife Dr. Denise Brühl hosted “A Night of Classical Music,” featuring Swiss chamber musician and concert pianist Joseph-Maurice Weder. It was held at the Swiss ambassador’s residence last Oct. 13.
Weder is celebrated for winning the Swiss Ambassador’s Award, which launched his international career beginning with a recital at London’s Wigmore Hall in 2013. Together with his passion for performing, he is also actively involved in education, having been a guest professor at several conservatories of music throughout the world, including at the University of the Philippines.
That evening at the Swiss ambassador’s residence, Weder performed a number of iconic pieces, which included Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Piano Sonata No. 10 in C Major, KV 330”; Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Piano Sonata ‘Pathetique’ C minor Op. 13”; and Frédéric Chopin’s “Ballade No. 3 in A-flat Major, Op. 47” and “Scherzo No. 2 in B-flat Minor, Op. 31.”
In his message, Amb. Brühl thanked the members of the Swiss Cultural Fund for making the evening possible for music lovers from both the Philippines and Switzerland to enjoy.
