TACLOBAN CITY – A fire hit three buildings, including the Commission on Elections’, in the local government unit compound of Santa Margarita, Samar on All Souls’ Day.
The fire allegedly started from the abandoned office of the Department of Interior and Local Government and Liga ng mga Barangay at 11 a.m.
Reportedly caused by faulty electrical wiring, the fire spread to the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and the Comelec.
Despite the fire, the local Comelec assured that documents kept in their office in the barangay elections are intact.
The local Bureau of Fire Protection immediately responded and put out the fire after a few minutes.
Damage to property was estimated at P345,000. No casualties or injuries were reported in the fire.
