AJ Lim couldn’t duplicate his splendid showings in his previous outings as he succumbed to hometown bet Mohamed Safwat, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), in the second round of the M25 Sharm El Sheikh Egypt Men’s Futures on Thursday, Nov. 2, in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

Lim suffered from a lethargic start in the first set after staring at a 5-2 deficit, which was enough for the top Egyptian player to capitalize and never look back despite some resistance from the Filipino hitter.
In the second set, Lim came back from a 5-2 hole and managed to stay within striking distance, tying the score at 6-all which resulted in a tiebreak.
But Safwat was just a veteran in his own right, shrugging off Lim's fightback and in the process eliminating the 24-year-old from contention.
Lim will not return to the country immediately as he is expected to vie in the Egyptian circuit.
He recently listed his first-ever win in ATP, besting Adam Jones of Great Britain (6-4, 6-1) in his last game.
