Tens of thousands of visitors trooped to Libingan ng mga Bayani (Heroes' Cemetery or LNMB) in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City to visit their departed loved ones and heroes of the country during the observance of "Undas", the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said Friday, Nov. 3.
From October 31 to November 2, a total of 84,300 visitors were monitored at the LNMB, said AFP public affairs office chief Col. Xerxes Trinidad.
On All Saints' Day alone on Nov. 1, there were 42,790 visitors at LNMB, registering around 50 percent of the total recorded visits during the three-day period.
"The outpouring of visits at LNMB is a testament to the enduring spirit of patriotism and gratitude to those who have served our nation with unwavering dedication. It provided opportunity for them to reflect on the sacrifices made, and offer their heartfelt tributes," Trinidad said.
Trinidad said the AFP recognizes the importance of preserving the memory of those who have selflessly given their lives for the betterment of the country.
"As we continue to commemorate their legacy, the military organization reaffirms its commitment to upholding democracy, sovereignty and freedom for which our heroes have fought," he noted.
The LNMB is a national cemetery that serves as the resting place for soldiers, Philippine presidents, national heroes, patriots, artists and scientists.
Based on AFP records, there are a total of 53,548 individuals interred at LNMB.
