The local government of Bugallon in Pangasinan, through Mayor Priscilla Espino, greenlighted PetroGreen Energy Corp.’s 25 megawatts (MW) solar power project.
The Yuchengo-led firm said that the project, which will be located in a 25-hectare site in barangay Salomague Sur, is set to start operation in January next year.
The solar project is expected to supply renewable energy in the area by the last quarter of 2024 and is expected to generate 41,000 MWh of power per year and reduce carbon emissions by 29,056 metric tons.
“We are grateful, and we welcome this much-needed investment by PetroGreen here in our locality that will not only add to our power supply, but will also contribute green jobs, social upliftment, and fiscal benefits to Bugallon and to Pangasinan province,” Espino said.
“We are very pleased with the full support extended by Mayor Espino, the Sanggunian Bayan, and the entire host community of Bugallon,” Roberto Santos of PGEC said.
“Such commitment from local governments is vital so that the investments and efforts of the private sector and the Marcos Jr. administration to increase the country’s renewable energy supply eventually succeed,” he added
PGEC has earlier acquired two solar projects in Luzon– one in Nueva Ecija and another in Isabela.
It currently operates two solar power facilities, with capacities of 50 MW and 20 MW, in Central Technopark, Tarlac City through its subsidiary PetroSolar Corp.
In addition, the solar firm is also developing a 27-MW solar project in the town of Dagohoy in Bohol.
