The Parañaque city government conducted a contest for public and private school students in singing and poster making on Tuesday, Nov. 28 held at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay, in Barangay Tambo.
Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez said the singing and poster making contest for elementary and high school students from public and private school is part of the city government’s active participation in celebration of ‘National Children’s Month’ themed "Healthy, nourished, sheltered: Ensuring the right of life for all!"
Olivarez, who is also a professor, said the activity that featured the talents of elementary and high school students from private and public schools is a good outlet to show their ability in singing and creative talents in the field of arts.
He said 28 students from elementary joined and show their talents in singing while 27 high school students joined the poster-making contest.
The mayor said winners for the singing and poster-making contest received P15,000 cash for the first place; P12,000 for the second place, P8,000 for the third place, P5,000 for the fourth place, P4,000 for the fifth place and consolation prize of P1,000.
Olivarez said the activity was spearheaded by the City Tourism Office under Melquiades I. Alipo-on in coordination with the City Social Welfare and Development Department (CSWDD) headed by Vivian Gabriel and Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office led by Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Nerissa Losaria.
