Abandoned NPA camp in Abra yields war materials


TUBO, Abra – Police discovered war materials in an abandoned New People’s Army camp in Barangay Kili here on Monday, November 27.

Police Brig. Gen. David Peredo Jr., Police Regional Office-Cordillera chief, said the 143rd Special Action Company, 14th Special Action Battalion, Abra Police Provincial Office, Mountain Province PPO, and Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 were conducting a minor internal security operation in a mountainous part of the barangay when they discovered the camp.

Recovered from the camp were an anti-personnel mine (PVC type), two dynamites, four detonating cords, one ICOM hand-held radio, two ICOM battery chargers, assorted wiring, one solar panel, one Motorola charger, one Nokia charger, two dynamos, a grease gun, subversive documents, other communications devices, tools, medicine kits, and personal belongings.

These items are now in the custody of the police here and Explosives and Ordnance Division-Abra for documentation and proper disposition.

Operating units are searching adjacent areas of the camp for the possible recovery of more subversive materials.

This town is located south of this province and is bound by Ilocos Sur, Mountain Province, and Kalinga.
