The Wushu Federation of the Philippines is eyeing to strengthen its grassroots program by planning on teaming up with the Department of Education to bring tournaments in various regions.

“Dito kasi tayo makakakuha ng mga bata for our grassroots development program,” Camacho said during the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum at the Rizal Memorial Complex on Tuesday, Nov. 28.
Apart from holding regional events, Camacho said they are also coordinating with various collegiate leagues to include wushu in their sports calendar.
“We already have some of the schools sa UAAP, NCAA, actually sa UAAP meron na tayo from Ateneo, UST, La Salle, UP,” Camacho said.
“We already talked to them with the NCAA as well, with Arellano, San Sebastian,” he added.
The national team, who also appeared in the weekly forum, is coming off a successful stint at the World Wushu Championships in Fort Worth, Texas where it bagged one gold, four silver and one bronze medal.
Mark Lester Ragay, Mark Anthony Polo and Vincent Ventura went home with the men’s duilian gold medal, while Arnel Mandal, Clemente Tabugara Jr., Agatha Wong and Jennifer Kilapo clinched silver medals in their taolu and sanda events.
Russel Diaz pocketed the lone bronze in sanda.
