“Hong Kong In The Lens By Asian Directors” will be holding Thailand and Philippines premieres on Dec. 6 and 10, respectively.

Thai director Nattawut Poonpiriya directed the micro film “Zi Mui”, which tells a story of two sisters coming to Hong Kong from Thailand to look for someone with Zi Mui. The director reduced close-up shots and captured characters with wider angles to capture more background, maximizing the span of Hong Kong’s night scenes. The protagonists, Cris Horwang and Ploi Horwang, are real-life sisters but this is the first time the sisters are working together on the  same project.

Filipino director Cathy Garcia-Sampana, who directed the highest grossing domestic film in Philippine history “Hello, Love, Goodbye”, revisited Hong Kong to film “Toss Coin.” The story depicts two strangers from the Philippines falling in love in Hong Kong, delving into themes about believing in fate and having the courage to take chances. The film showcases beautiful silhouettes of different architectures where a cocky street-singing boy meets an energetic girl who came to Hong Kong to seek true love. As if playing hide and seek with each other, they traverse Hong Kong unfolding a sweet and touching romance.
