BUTUAN CITY – Police arrested two fake dentists in an entrapment operation in Barangay Villa Kananga here on Sunday, November 26.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit-13 identified the suspects as “Zel,” 22, and “Ana,” 29.
Suspects, who were arrested following information from a concerned citizen, yielded P100,000 worth of assorted dental instruments – a check retractor, 20 UZL MBT bracket, 13 wires, six packs of second molar band, a mouth mirror, a tube of ortho adhesive, one primer, three explorers, four cotton pliers, a cutter, a curing light, and a scaler.

PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft said suspects are facing criminal cases for violation of Republic Act No. 9484 or the Philippine Dental Act of 2007.
“Our poseur-client contacted the suspects through their Facebook page where they agreed to meet at the aforementioned place to install orthodontic or ‘braces,’” Kraft said.
“After the transaction was fully materialized, the operating troops immediately rushed towards the place and arrested the suspects for failing to present any documents that authorize them to practice dentistry.”
He said a thorough investigation is ongoing to determine their cohorts or companions.
“We are now deepening the investigation to trace other possible associates of these suspects as well as their suppliers who might be also involved in the same modus,” he said.
“I encourage everyone to be vigilant against these hoax health practitioners who can put anyone’s health in danger.”
