Taguig LGU entices EMBO real property owners with lower tax rates

The Taguig City government encouraged real property owners in its 10 new barangays in the EMBO (enlisted men’s barrio) areas to register and pay their taxes.

“The Supreme Court has ruled with finality that the 10 EMBO barangays are under the jurisdiction of Taguig,” the Taguig city government said in a Facebook post.

The city government is referring to Barangays Cembo, Comembo, Pembo, East Rembo, West Rembo, South Cembo, Pitogo, Post Proper Northside, Post Proper Southside and Rizal, which the SC transferred to Taguig.

It told EMBO real property owners that Taguig’s real property tax rates are lower compared to Makati.

For residential, the tax rate is 2 percent in Taguig compared to 2.5 percent in Makati, and 2.5 percent for commercial and industrial compared to 3 percent in Makati, the city government stated.

It also said the Taguig City government will provide a 20 percent discount to those who will pay the 2024 real property taxes in full before Dec. 29 this year.

“There are special lanes specifically for EMBO residents who may require assistance as first-time Taguig property owners,” it added.
