Pasay kid wins in national music tilt

The Pasay City local government lauded a Grade three student for her win in the finals of the 2023 National Music Competition for Young Artist (NMCYA) held at the Metropolitan Theater on Nov. 25.

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano congratulated Mikaela Joy E. Viernes, a Grade three student of Timoteo Paez Elementary School for winning in the NMCYA for Children’s Solo Rondalla.

Rubiano said Viernes' win as third placer in the Children’s Solo Rondalla of NMCYA has brought so much pride to the city.

She said Viernes was trained by Shawn Russel Parreno who graduated from the same school and Geraldine Balaguer in becoming a good banduria player.

The NMCYA is celebrating its 50^th founding anniversary with the most awaited competition in music for young artists and musicians as a highlight.
