Throughout the course of human history, the connection between humans and horses is woven with threads of mutual understanding, trust, and companionship. Horses have long held a special place in our hearts, not just as magnificent creatures but as remarkable companions that offer a unique blend of emotional, physical, and therapeutic benefits.
Physically, riding a horse is an excellent form of exercise for the mind and body. Our mind is at work, trying to map out where exactly we’d like our horse companion to bring us while our body finds balance in keeping steady. As most riders may point out, there’s also a joy in forming quite the bond with the horses they’ve spent most of their time with.
This year, Clark held its 15th Horsefest at the El Kabayo Grounds as a testament to our long bond with these equine beauties. Horse and pony rides were available for anyone to try out. There was also a diverse food and merchandise festival to keep guests fueled throughout the day.

Clark Development Corporation (CDC) board member Helen Nicolette Henson-Hizon has fond memories of Clark. “As a child, Clark held a special place in my heart,” she said. “The excitement of visiting this nature destination with its trees, parks, and, of course, restaurants always thrilled me. It was a family favorite—a place that evoked beautiful memories.”
She also praised how the horsefest has grown, becoming an event for every member of the family. “What started as a gathering for horse enthusiasts has evolved into a horsefest—an annual event in Clark that delights both riders and non-riders of all ages. I’m happy to know about El Kabayo’s motto: ‘There’s something for everyone!’” enthused Henson-Hizon.
The horsefest started in 2007 through the collaboration between the CDC and Clark Riding Stables, Inc.
