ILOILO CITY – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) and the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) have said no women or children have been kidnapped here and this province.

“Never happened,” Police Colonels Joeresty Coronica and Ronald Palomo of the ICPO and IPPO, respectively, said in response to social media posts that a group has been abducting them.
One of these posts said that a group from Manila is in Jaro, Iloilo City to kidnap women and children and that a member has been arrested for abducting three teenagers in Barangay San Isidro in Jaro District.
The post also described the kidnappers’ green van and disclosed its license plates.
“Sharing fake news may lead to legal consequences,” the ICPO said.
Similar posts have been circulating in towns of Iloilo province.
“What is being circulated in various chat groups is not true. If you receive such a message, please do not forward it to your family members and friends to stop this form of disinformation or fake news,” said Palomo.
