More than 400 bikers joined the “Padyak Pasay 2023” program hosted by the Pasay City government at the SM By the Bay on Saturday, Nov. 25.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano thanked the participants and said that the event aimed to bring together all the cyclists to promote healthy living and to protect the environment.
“Sa bawat padyak (in every trail) we are able to hit two birds with one stone. Una, (first) we are able to help mother earth! Sa bawat padyak at bawat (in every trail we do) conscious effort to bike, nababawasan po natin ang (we can lessen) carbon footprint dito sa ating lungsod (in our city), at nababawasan natin ang polusyon (and lessen the pollution) as a whole. At pangalawa, (secondly) we are also able to help our own selves as biking is a proven exercise that will improve our physical health, at syempre,(and of course) mental and emotional health as well,” Rubiano said.
Rubiano said that aside from biking, the activity also showcased bike clinic for children who wanted to learn with Eco-tour team.
She said participants received giveaways and raffle prizes of new bikes from the city government and its partner JCI Manilena.
“As we come together in the spirit of biking here in Padyak Pasay, we foster a community of like-minded individuals dedicated to weaving tapestry of change. Let our shared passion for biking be the catalyst for broader impactful transformations not only here in Pasay City but in whole country,” said JCI Manilena president, Le-Anne Rubiano.
