3 pupils drown in Davao City river

DAVAO CITY – Three schoolchildren drowned on the Liloan River in Barangay Mandug here on Friday, November 24. 

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) identified the victims as Takeshe Sanico, 13; Kian Carlo Bituin, 12; and Jeric Redulla, 12, pupils of the Buhangin Central Elementary School.

Investigation said the victims and two friends cut classes to swim on the river.

Police said that four of them went swimming until the river current became strong and carried them away.

Only one of them managed to survive.

Victims were retrieved by the city government and were administered cardio-pulmonary resuscitation but was unsuccessful.

Bodies of the victims were taken to a funeral home here.
