Some roads closed in Manila for ASICS Rock 'n' Roll Marathon

The Manila local government announced that some roads for the ASICS Rock 'n' Roll Manila Marathon will be closed from Nov. 25 to 26.

The public was advised that the following roads will be closed from 11 p.m. on Saturday to 8 a.m. on Sunday.

  • Bonifacio Drive (from Anda Circle to Katigbak Drive)
  • Katigbak Drive and South Drive
  • Independence Road
  • P. Burgos Avenue (from Roxas Blvd. to Jones, McArthur, & Quezon Bridges)
  • Ma. Orosa Street (from P. Burgos to Kalaw)
  • Finance Rd. (from P. Burgos Ave. to Taft Ave.)
  • Northbound lane of Taft Ave. from Ayala Blvd. to P. Burgos Ave. (Two Lanes only)
  • Muralla Street (from Sta. Lucia St. to Real St.)
  • Real Street (from Muralla St. to Sta. Lucia St.)
  • Sta. Lucia Street (from Real St. to Muralla St.)
  • Quintin Paredes Street (from Jones Bridge to Ongpin St.)

Roxas Blvd. (from Katigbak Drive to Pres. Quirino Ave.) will be closed starting at 10 p.m. on Saturday to give way for the preparation of the event.

The marathon will be participated by 9,400 individuals from 53 countries who will run the streets at midnight on Sunday.

Participants will start at Luneta Park and weave through landmarks such as the National Museum, Manila City Hall, Fort Bonifacio, and Chinatown in Binondo.

The event was initiated by ASICS in coordination with the local government, which aims to promote health and wellness by bringing together individuals to running, music, and community.

Motorists are advised to take alternate routes.
