QC LGU launches chatbot for domestic violence reports

The Quezon City local government participated in the launch of “Sophia, The Chatbot”, a digital companion designed to provide anonymous support to survivors of domestic violence worldwide, on Saturday, Nov. 25.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and Embassy of Switzerland Deputy Head of Mission Celine Furst spearheaded the launching ceremony at the Quezon City Hall.

The “Sophia, The Chatbot" is a digital companion which aid survivors of domestic violence on a global scale. It is 24/7 available in every country and currently provided in 12 languages.

The application enables survivors to collect potential evidence and seek assistance safely and securely, ensuring that their actions leave no digital trace.

It also includes the rights and laws that will protect them.

The introduction of the new chatbot in the country coincides with the 18-day campaign to stop Violence Against Women.

The campaign aims to enhance awareness and understanding of domestic violence while addressing its pressing issues.

According to the city’s Public Information Office (PIO), the development of Sophia Chatbot in the Philippines is a collaborative effort of SPARK! Philippines, the Embassy of Switzerland in the Philippines, Spring ACT, the Quezon City Government through the Quezon City Gender and Development Council, and RespetoNaman.

According to Spring ACT, Sophia the Chatbot can be used on sophia.chat on any browser or even in messenger apps.
