FASHION PULIS: Follow, unfollow, follow, unfollow

Published Nov 25, 2023 02:10 am

No. This Boyfriend (BF)—Girlfriend (GF) couple has not gone that route yet, as unfollowing only gives rumors credibility.

These past weeks, social media has been abuzz with rabid fans defending the strength of the relationship of BF and GF.

Corollary to the defense of their idols is their badmouthing of whomever started to hint that BF and GF are no longer together.

Meanwhile, neither of the two have shown the sign, that is, unfollowing each other’s account in social media. Even if fans noticed that the two hardly showed up together in events recently, each other’s absence is dismissed as one is just busy with work.

However, the grapevine is loud that forever is gone. Could the two have fallen out of love and realized they should chart their lives separately? Did someone go astray? Regardless of the answer, what is undeniable is that there is a rumor that they have gone separate ways.

Nonetheless, separating is not simply closing their chapter and going public. The two might have endorsements that require them to be together until a certain duration. Thus, separating before the contract is done could result in legal issues. It could be that the two are avoiding possible legalities if they admit publicly that their relationship has ended.

One of these days, the public might become restless and demand to know the truth. At this point, other names are being dragged and yet, silence has been the response.

'I thought about how there are two types of secrets: the kind you want to keep in, and the kind you don't dare to let out.' -  Ally Carter

Done Deal

Whenever the public sees two celebrities constantly together, the assumption is that they are together. On the one hand, some couples would immediately assume or deny the relationship. Such statements appease their followers. On the other hand, several couples keep quiet and imply that what you see is what you get. There is even a running joke that whenever a couple announces the breakup, the response is “Were they even together?”

Similarly, only eagle-eyed followers noticed that something seems to be brewing between Eligible Actor (EA) and Eligible Girl (EG). Netizens pointed out similarities in their outfits, but no one really made much meaning because EA and EG were never vocal about each other. Netizens only looked at them as co-workers in the same station. EA and EG were not even promoted as a loveteam.

As years passed, the sighting of the two strengthened the hunch that they were more than just colleagues. Soon, calls for them to settle down became loud. The two just ignored those wishes and kept quiet about their relationship. Besides, the image projected by EA is someone who is not the settling down type of guy.

If rumors are correct, the assumption about EA will soon change. EA and EG have found forever with each other. And yes, EA already proposed to EG overseas, which was only known by a select few. However, EA and EG cannot just marry soon. They need to let time pass to keep within tradition.

‘I promise to stand by you, to hold you up when you’re about to fall, and to always keep you safe. I never believed there was a girl out there for me. Until I met you. You changed everything. And I never want to live without you. I love you more than I ever thought possible.’ ― J. Sterling
