The Department of Health (DOH) announced on Saturday, Nov. 25, a significant decrease in influenza-like illness (ILI) cases across the Philippines, indicating a positive trend in the battle against respiratory infections.

As of Nov. 11, there were 182,721 ILI cases were reported in the last three to four weeks, showing a noteworthy “decline” of 20 percent compared to the preceding two weeks.
Examining the regional landscape, the DOH found that no region exhibited a consistent increase during the recent six-week period or from Oct. 1 to Nov. 11.
Meanwhile, DOH revealed that Region V recorded 75 new ILI cases in the last three to four weeks.
While the department anticipates a continued decline in cases in the coming weeks, a potential rise is expected again at the onset of January.
Meanwhile, the health department urged the public to remain vigilant and adopt preventive measures, including wearing masks, ensuring adequate ventilation, and receiving vaccinations.
It emphasized the importance of individual self-assessment, recommended isolation when sick, and encouraged the public to get vaccinated and boosted to enhance protection against infection or severe disease.
As the holiday season approaches, the DOH underscored the significance of these precautions to prevent a resurgence of respiratory infections.
