The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Friday, Nov. 27 said the effect of the shear line, which brought heavy rains to Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas over the past few days has “weakened.”
Shear line is a weather system formed by the convergence of cold northeasterly winds and warm easterly winds.
However, PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the shear line and easterlies may continue to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Aurora, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Bicol Region, Aklan, Capiz, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental.
PAGASA warned of possible flash floods and landslides in these areas during moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon, locally known as "amihan," may bring cloudy skies with light rains to the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan, including the Babuyan Islands, Isabela, and Quirino, and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains to the Ilocos Region and the rest of the Cagayan Valley.
PAGASA said the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
The public is advised to be vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
