Released Filipino hostage undergoes medical tests


The Filipino national who was released by Hamas after taking him hostage is already undergoing medical tests.

According to the Israeli Embassy in Manila, Jimmy Pacheco is now at Shamir Medical Center, an Israeli hospital near the country's Ben Gurion airport, to receive medical support and ensure his well-being.

He was brought there after being welcomed by senior representatives of the Israeli Foreign Ministry and Philippine Ambassador to Israel Junie Laylo after his release.'

"The Israeli Embassy in Manila expresses its relief upon the release of Mr. Jimmy Pacheco from captivity by Hamas," the embassy said in its statement.

"Our thoughts and prayers remain for the safe release of the 200+ hostages still held in captivity by the terror organization Hamas," it added.

The embassy said Israel will do whatever is needed to bring all the remaining hostages back home.

Pacheco was among the 24 hostages first released by Hamas following a humanitarian truce between the militants and Israel. He was released upon the mediation of Qatar, Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo said.

About 237 people were believed to be abducted by Hamas to Gaza when it launched an attack on Israel on Oct. 7.
