PH Red Cross extends aid to individuals affected by LPA, shearline
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) said on Friday, Nov. 24, that aid has been provided to thousands of families in Luzon and Visayas affected by the low-pressure area (LPA) and shearline-induced rains.

The PRC shared that as of Nov. 23, it has served over 3,300 hot meals in Northern Samar and has provided psychosocial support to 100 adults and children in Quezon, Lucena, and Negros Occidental.
Medical care for 200 individuals and evacuation assistance for 217 individuals in the aforementioned provinces have also been provided.
“Ngayong nalalapit na ang Pasko, lalo pa naming pinag-iigihan ang pagtatrabaho para tulungan ang mga kababayan nating apektado ng baha at malakas na ulan. (Now that Christmas is approaching, we are even more determined to work to help our countrymen affected by floods and heavy rains)," PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard Gordon said.
"Our Emergency Medical Personnel (EMS) and Emergency Response Unit (ERU) are on alert in every PRC chapter to help those affected by the rain on roads and at sea," he added.
Moreover, the PRC also mentioned that it had assisted 172 passengers of the Iloilo-bound vessel that encountered a two-hour delay in the waters of Panay and Negros on Nov. 21 due to the inclement weather.
An ambulance was deployed at the Bacolod Real Estate and Development Corporation (BREDCO) port to help transport passengers needing further medical attention.
PRC volunteers also provided the passengers with psychological first aid (PFA) and blood pressure monitoring.
Furthermore, PRC Secretary-General Dr. Gwen Pang underscored that providing psychological support is as essential as providing food and water to assist evacuees in coping with the emotional trauma of floods and displacement.
