Daring to take on the current wave of new Japanese and Chinese vehicles is new South Korean auto brand, KG Mobility, distributed by, The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI), which also offers Chevrolet in the Philippines.
The KG Mobility name may be new, but veteran buyers may recognize its models like the Tivoli, Musso Grand, and Rexton. KG Mobility’s roots date back to 1954 and, from then onwards, the brand has carved out a reputation for being a premier Korean SUV manufacturer and specialist, and one of the main pillars of the Korean automotive industry.
At its official brand launch, KG Mobility unveiled its product lineup composed of models in key segments. These are the Tivoli crossover SUV; the Tivoli Grand SUV; the Torres SUV; the Rexton Mid-Size SUV; and the Musso Grand Pickup.
The Tivoli crossover SUV is its most affordable, offered with a tempting introductory price of P898,888 for the manual variant all the way up to P1,248,888 for the top-of-the-line model. This unique SUV seats five and is powered by a 1.6-liter petrol engine that produces 128-PS.
The Tivoli Grand is the larger version offering even more space and features. It’s powered by the same 1.6-liter petrol engine that produces 128-PS and boasts of up to 1,440-liters of storage capacity. It’s priced at P1,188,888 all the way up to P1,268,888.
The Torres SUV is easily the most stylish of the bunch, and is available as a front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. It’s powered by a 1.5-liter GDI Turbo petrol engine that makes 163-PS. Its introductory price starts at P1,868,888 for the front-wheel drive model and P2,168,888 for the all-wheel drive model.
Veteran buyers may be familiar with the Rexton name, the brand’s long-time flagship SUV. The Rexton boasts of a brand new look and supremely capable diesel engine. The engine makes 202-PS and 441-NM of torque paired to an eight-speed automatic. It’s priced at P2,248,888 for the 4x2 and P2,588,888 for the 4x4.
Finally, KG Mobility also hopes to disrupt the highly competitive pickup segment with its Musso Grand. It boasts of the largest bed in its class with a powerplant capable of hauling it all. It makes 187-PS and 420-NM and is paired with a six-speed automatic. The Musso Grand is starts at P1,198,888 for the entry level 4x2 manual all the way up to P1,898,888 for the top-of-the-line 4x4 automatic.
With the variety of this initial offering, KG Mobility Philippines aims to satisfy multiple customer segments made up of discerning individuals with varied needs and preferences. Retail sales begin this month and all vehicles will be covered by a five-year/100,000 km warranty. new KGM clients will have easy access to KG Mobility Solutions aftersales support via a string of KGM PH accredited and authorized service outlets. This include 1-hour service for periodic vehicle maintenance, or home vehicle servicing packages that can be availed of for more specialized aftersales cases.
The company is expected to have 12 independent dealer partners by the end of 2024. To make its cars more accessible to prospective buyers, pop-up concept road shows across commercial venues in Metro Manila have been planned. Looking ahead to 2024, more pop-up concepts will be instituted over a wider area of coverage.
With these models and offers, TCCCI hopes Filipinos will be inclined to say, “Annyeong, KG Mobility Philippines!”
