The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) met with representatives from different power generation companies in Mindanao to apprise them of the revised requirements for obtaining certificates of compliance (COCs).

In a statement, Sharon Montañer,  ERC market operations service (MOS) director, said that this ensures compliance of official generation companies and distribution utilities to the regulations set by the government.

“We aim to disseminate and educate you on how we will shift from the 2014 COC Rules to the 2023 COC rules,” she explained during the Information and Education Campaign (IEC) in Mindanao.

“We will also be conducting an FGD on the resolution of outage reporting procedures,” she added.

The ERC also said that they are actively examining the rules for amendment in order to improve the procedures through necessary suggestions made by the Mindanao power representatives.

The revised COCs act as the license to govern the standards, requirements, and other operating procedures of energy-related works in the country, namely power plant operations.

Prior to the IEC happening in the region, the ERC had already done several campaigns in Metro Manila for Luzon stakeholders as well as held meetings with Visayas representatives in Cebu City. (Gabriell Christel Galang)
