DPWH completes P39.2-M road expansion project in Ilocos Sur

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said that it has completed a P39.2 million road expansion project along the Manila North Road (MNR) in Santa, Ilocos Sur.
DPWH Regional Office Director Ronnel M. Tan noted that the widened road will spur local economy in the province by minimizing travel costs and increasing the city's main industrial area.
Implemented by DPWH Ilocos Sur 2nd District Engineering Office, the project covers the construction of a 470-lineal-meter concrete retaining wall with stone masonry activities, and a lined canal to ensure water flow.
The road widening will also help mitigate traffic congestion and protect motorists and pedestrians, the DPWH noted.
The DPWH Ilocos Sur 2nd DEO said that solar LED street lights were also installed to ensure adequate lighting and to limit the number of accidents in the area. (Trixee Rosel)
