Coaches Tab Baldwin and Nash Racela had a heated exchange during Ateneo and Adamson’s win-or-go-home match for the last UAAP Season 86 Final Four slot on Wednesday, Nov. 22.

The opposing tacticians were handed double technical fouls for continuous verbal spat in the last minute of the third quarter that eventually saw defending champion Ateneo come away with a lopsided 70-48 win over Adamson, which was unlike their second-round encounter where it seemed to have started it all.
It wasn’t clear what actually went down as both sides have different versions of that moment, with Baldwin detailing it in jest while Racela saying it is “not for kids to hear”, insinuating the severity of what was said.
“You wanna know what he said? You want to know what came out of his mouth? It is not for kids to hear,” said Racela.
During the post-game handshake between the two squads, Racela just walked past his ‘good friend’ Baldwin, but claimed that he was too absorbed in the last play and just missed him.
Graduating Adamson star Jerom Lastimosa had his final moment in the UAAP after knocking out a triple right at the buzzer courtesy of Ateneo rookie Kyle Gambler who handed him the ball.
Racela lashed out at the league for its officiating in the Soaring Falcons’ 62-58 crucial defeat against the Blue Eagles in the elimination round last Nov. 12.
Not even long after, Baldwin then took a jab at people who were putting the officials in an “inordinate” amount of pressure and called it a “shameful” act.
“I was really upset that the referee stepped in. I thought there was a real moment there where I had the opportunity to learn from coach Nash to learn about my putting stroke. Because he’s an excellent golfer and he was giving me some advice. I not only was upset that the referee stopped it but then he also gave us both a technical foul,” said Baldwin.
“But I’m not allowed, we are not allowed to talk about the referees, so I’m just gonna thank the referee for taking that learning moment away from me. But I’ll talk to coach Nash, and he’ll get me out on the golf course and correct my putting course that the Lord knows it needs,” he added.
If anything is even clear, it’s that the opposing coaches are not seeing eye to eye at the moment.
